Comparison
Filed Wages versus Levels.fyi H-1B data
Two views of the same Labor Department data. What each says about itself, side by side.
Levels.fyi presents the Department of Labor's H-1B data inside a larger compensation site. This page compares what each says about its H-1B data; it was checked on 2026-10-21.
| Filed Wages | Levels.fyi H-1B data | |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | DOL OFLC LCA disclosure data (certified filings) joined to BLS OEWS | Says the records are from the U.S. Department of Labor ("Official DOL Data") |
| Coverage as stated | 400,956 certified filings with a usable wage | Says 1.3M+ H-1B salary records, 8 years of data, updated through FY2026 Q2 |
| Latest quarter stated | FY2026 Q3 | FY2026 Q2 |
| Statistics shown | 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentiles; matched ratio to OEWS | Says min, 25th percentile, median, 75th percentile, max and standard deviation |
| Filters | Employer, job and metro, state | Says year, state, wage level and filing type |
| Wage level | Share of filings naming each level on every page | Offered as a filter |
| Base salary note | Wages are the bottom of each offered range | States that H-1B data shows base salary only, with no stock, bonus or other pay, and that filings do not distinguish junior from senior roles |
| Price | Free to read | No price is stated on the page for the H-1B data |
Where they agree
Both rest on certified labor condition application wages and both warn the same thing: the wage on a filing is a base figure, not total pay. Levels.fyi says filings do not separate junior from senior roles; the answer here is to show the OEWS comparison and the wage level mix next to each wage.
Where they differ
Levels.fyi covers more records and years and sits next to self-reported total compensation. Filed Wages is narrower, shows the OEWS match and level mix on every page, and states the data date on every page. Neither replaces the filing itself or the DOL wage search.
